Charles Van Der Merwe 
Growing up in the rural midlands of Natal in the 1940's and 50's, Charles was casually interested in drawing.  A career in the industrial accounting field led to spending lengthy spells in England, Mozambique and Angola as well as in major SA cities.
Serious drawing commenced in 1980 - 81 with Bill Ainslee in Johannesburg who emphasized 'seeing' instead of merely 'looking'.  In Cape Town he attended classes run by established art teachers Erik Laubscher, Ryno Swart, Clare Menck, Francois Roux and Shelley Adams.  Now devoting his life to painting/drawing.
