Philip Harper was born in Johannesburg in 1954. He graduated from Wits University with an MA Archaeology. Harper spent time in Johannesburg in the professional photographic and printing world, later photographic safaris in Botswana. He works mainly in oils, but also ceramics, ceramic mosaics and sculpture.
