Zakkie
Eloff was born in Botswana and studied art at Pretoria Boys’ High under Walter
Batiss, then under van Essche and Phyllis Gardner at Wits Tech Art School. In 1962 fled urban life to become a game warden at Etosha in
SWA. The content of his paintings and etchings reflect his absorption in wild-life and the
veld. His style is linear and minimal with sensitive drawing being used to maximum effect in conveying stance and movement of the animal in question.
